I’ve spent this afternoon importing years and years of pictures into Aperture so when I stumbled upon the folder from Florence 2009 it was just too hard to pick one picture. As with last week’s pic this was one of my first forays into the world of film and the dark room so the resulting pictures were very hit and miss. Some of them survived my brutal developing though and came out quite nicely. I love the look and feel of the film and really need to make myself shoot more of it over the next couple months.

A day late on this one but here’s a pic taken in Lombok in April last year.

I can’t really remember where today’s ‘Once upon a time’ picture was taken but I think it was just as we were leaving Paris on route to Vienna. In September 2009 I went interrailing around Europe with a couple of friends. In 3 weeks we visited Paris, Vienna, Prague, Munich, Berlin and Amsterdam and it was honestly the best travelling experience I’ve had. I took an old nikon film camera along with me and it was (perhaps I shouldn’t admit this) my first experience shooting film. Returning back to England I processed the B&W film myself and as you can see I didn’t do the best job with this roll!

I’ve been doing some “From the archive” posts over the past couple months and have now decided to change the name to “Once upon a time”. For no particular reason other than for a change. The first picture in this series, which will be published every Friday, is from the Semana Santa celebrations in Seville last April.

I’ve just done a re-edit of these pictures for my website which can be seen here.
